Introduction:
Nowadays as the use of internet has increased tremendously, risk of cyber attacks has also increased. Due to tuts and video explaining WiFi hacking, almost every household WiFi is at risk (Big companies use advanced security techniques which make it difficult). As every house do not have a computer expert or geek so their wifi is left unsecured and can sometime cause great damage too. So first thing to do as a computer user is to have multiple layers of security to prevent such.
The things you need to know:
1. Your all devices' MAC address.
2. Your router IP-address.
3. A computer connected to your router. (if possible physically i.e. through wire.)
4. Basics computer knowledge.
5. Any internet browser. (Everyone have one. Just to make 5 points. :v )
If you guys don't know your devices MAC address or your router IP address just refer these tuts.
How to know your MAC address. How to know your IP address.
These are very easy things to do.
Now I am going to explain the actual process and the methods are numbered according to there importance.
Also my router is TP-Link so your router setting UI and mine can differ.

1. Password:
Every WiFi user knows this one. As there is nothing more secure then a password.
Steps:
1. First open your browser and browse your IP. It's usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or similar. And if you don't get anyone right just refer this tut.
2. You must know the login username and password of your router. In most case it's username = admin and password = admin. If not just search google with your router model no. or contact the seller.
3. Now after that just get to Wireless > Wireless Security.
4. In wireless security choose WPA/WPA2-Personal.
5. In Password field set your password and in Version and Encryption leave them automatic as the router will choose best option for you. In this wrong configuration might result in insecure or slow network.
6. Leave everything normal and save it. Your router might reset after that.
Now you have set up a password. For a good password just set up a alpha-numeric password of 12 character with some special character and your are 99% secure from password hacking.
2. MAC - filtering:
This where you will define which computers and devices should be let to connect and rest shouldn't be. MAC address is the fancy name of your computer (to be specific, your wireless card.) In this you will define the MAC address of devices that are to be connected and rest all will be denied.
Steps:
1. Step 1 and 2 of setting password.
2. Navigate to Wireless > Wireless MAC filtering.
3. In filtering rules choose Allow and in the pop-up choose ok.
4. Now Click Add New and fill in the MAC-address of your device and choose Enable in status and save.
5 Now Click the Enable button at the top and you are done. You can add as many device as you want.
This will add an extra layer of security to you WiFi.
3. Hidden SSID:
SSID is the name of your WiFi. Though this is not exactly a way to secure your WiFi, it surely does something for some so called geek. The thing to remember is that, in internet there are lots of sniffer that can easily disclose your SSID so never ever use it as only WiFi security.
Steps:
1. Step 1 and 2 from above.
2. Navigate to Wireless(Wireless Setting.)
3. Disable or anything similar to SSID Broadcast or Network Name broadcast.
You are done. Doing this much can result in massive improvement in your WiFi security.
