Introduction:

When we see Nepal in the context of world we find that we Nepalese are poor. Not just poor but ranked as poorest country in South Asia and twelfth poor country in the world. Our nations finance runs on donations and remittance only. About 25.20% of national population is below poverty line. So why are we so poor?

I have selected about ten relevant points among thousand others in context of Nepal.

10. Population of Poor:

Nepal houses more poor people then rich. 25.20% of population cannot even earn to sustain their life while other are earning just enough to have two time meal a day. Since the population of poor society in Nepal cannot be controlled due to rapid population growth the rate of poverty is also increasing exponential. Strategies used are to remove poverty but due to large rapid growth in population the poverty cannot be eradicated so poor should be removed not poverty. (No offense.)

9. Occupation:

Nepalese's' main occupation is traditional agriculture. If we have tried modern ways of farming then surely it would have done some good but most of us still rely on tradition so Nepalese occupation is a reason. For a country to grow economically it must house other income source too but Nepal have very few industries concentrated in a fixed region so any income generating occupation is not enough to make country or people rich.

8. Poverty increase poverty:

As most of the population have low income or do not earn at all our country do not earn too i.e. nation do not raise enough taxes to conduct any programs or project. We are poor so we do not spend on high value project so country cannot earn for such taxes too. Also most of us do not own cars and vehicles, lands and houses so country cannot raise taxes from there too. Then if a country do not have enough income then how can she become rich?

7. Trade:

Our country do not have much products to sell. We only sell carpets, blankets, tea etc in very small scale so we can suppose our country do not sell at all. Our country's trade is so poor that it won't give significant revenue to sustain anything. So we cannot dependent on trade too. As everyone know we can earn only if we sell something whether that is resource, product or service but as our country sell's non we are poor.

6. Infrastructure:

This is kind of dependent. We need budget to build road and building and we need roads and building to earn enough budget. So these two depends on each other. Now as our country lack behind in infrastructure we have poor income and as we have poor income we are unable to develop infrastructure thus leading us to poverty.

5. Corruption:

Also this one works both sides as a cycle. We do not earn enough to sustain life and want to earn more and our country do not have more  and do not give more, so we try to steal the remaining of our nation and this cause our country to grow more poor which in turns increase  more corruption and so on the cycle goes leading our country to extreme poverty.

4. Landscape and Topography:

It is all well know that Nepal is a country of difficult landscape. We live in a house with many different hills and mountains. We can't even visit every nooks and corners ourselves. This affects construction and resource too. Natural resources are difficult to utilize because of this topology and also building infrastructure is very costly and difficult so, even a simple project need significant budget which make it seems like we are poor but actually we poor because we need more.

3. Politics:

Change is must as time goes but this change should be achieved in short span of time unless impossible but in our nation the wave of change is rising and falling, causing great instability in politics. So any projects that would have made any changes aren't even completed in time because of change in government causing the project to prolong and as time goes cost of raw material and human resources also increases and the previously assigned budget is insufficient to complete the project, leading nation to poverty.

2. Education, Culture, Tradition and Believes:

Nepalese education is completely career oriented. Non of the Nepali student study because the love their subject but the do so because they have already fixed a career in their mind and the irony is that only a very small fraction succeed and rest are forced to go abroad. Also Nepalese culture do not support innovation in a funny way. We are bound in a strict set of rules determined by our believes which prevent us from experiencing new things and innovating new ways which might have led us to a bright and rich future so our tradition, culture and believes are also a taboo to rich Nepal.

1. Lack of Entrepreneurial Spirit:

Nepalese are very weak in starting something completely by themselves. We only know to copy or follow. Even if we have a great ideas we are never actually able to share that to the world. We do not have enough courage and self confidence on doing something completely by ourselves. We can complaint about lack of resources but cannot do anything with what is in our reach. So until every Nepalese built up the spirit to start something we will remain poor because whatever is already done must be bought and buying costs.

Conclusion:

So in my opinion these are the main reason of poverty in Nepal and almost all third world country. So if we want make us and our country rich and prosperous we must learn to use our existing resource to make something productive.
